Based on our extensive knowledge of indigenous landscaping Wildflower Nursery offers a Planting Palette Service for gardeners looking to create plant-rich, visually exciting gardens that support biodiversity and nourish the human spirit.
The biggest challenge when creating visually exciting indigenous gardens is getting the plant selection and design right. An intimate knowledge of plants is essential to your success. How they behave in different situations, how far to space them apart, and which species make good neighbours.
Billions of years of evolution have left few loose ends in nature. Unfortunately, we don’t have billions of years to wait while our gardens evolve to the immense webbiness of the natural landscape.
Selecting plants according to ecological as well as aesthetic criteria is absolutely vital for creating visually exciting living landscapes. In particular, you need to balance these two seemingly opposing criteria with your needs, your budget, and the conditions in your garden.
Most gardeners attempt to figure out the best plant selections and combinations by trial and error – wasting valuable resources and time in the process. Unfortunately, plant selection tailored to your needs and the conditions of your garden is not a skill you can Google or YouTube.
Fortunately, there is a hassle free way to do your indigenous landscaping and plantscaping.
If you stay in Pretoria, Centurion, Midrand, or surrounds, you can tap into our experience to help you create a plant selection and planting design for your indigenous garden that best suits your family, your garden, and your budget.
How It Works
Option 1: Recommended Indigenous Plant Palette List
If you don’t have your own plant list we can create a master list from which you can then choose your favourites. Starting with a tailored master indigenous landscaping plant list guarantees your success from day one. We charge a small fee for this service based on the size of your garden and your special needs such as attracting birds or butterflies. For more information please contact Di-Di on 082 416 7145 or email didi@wildflowernursery.co.za
Option 2: Indigenous Planting Design Service
Once you have a master plant palette we can also design the plant groupings for you. This will ensure that you end up with a visually exciting living landscape that is a haven for both humans and animals, water wise and low in maintenance. It also protects you from the common mistake of either planting plants too close together or too far apart. We charge a fee for this service based on the size of your garden and your special needs. For more information please contact Arné on 079 897 0349 or email arne@wildflowernursery.co.za.
Option 3: Implementation
You can either implement the planting design at your own leisure, or our team of trained specialists can do all the hard back-breaking planting work for you.
Due to the fact that bag-grown plants need some time to establish, a maintenance and watering programme is essential. We will advise on a proper maintenance plan that you can implement yourself, or we can assist for a few times just to ensure that it is done according to the plant requirements. This will ensure that the long-term maintenance is very low.
We charge a fee for this service based on your implementation plan. PFor more information please contact Arné on 079 897 0349 or email arne@wildflowernursery.co.za.
