Crotalaria dura is an erect shrublet that reaches height of up to 600mm tall. It has a woody rootstock and annual branches. It flowers between September and February with loose or dense terminal inflorescence in spikes, the flowers are 6-10mm large and a bright yellow colour. The fruit are tiny roundish pods that are black with white or yellow hairs.
Crotalaria dura is a lovely specimen for any garden and attracts many butterflies. It is however poisonous to livestock. It will be lovely in a mixed border, in pots or in a rockery.
