Diascia purpurea is an low-growing, spreading, deciduous perennial herb that can grow up to 0.6m. The leaves form a mat and are bright green in colour and can be slightly hairy sometimes. The flowers borne in summer between January and February are a lovely purple colour. They are arranged on an elongated unbranched stem/axis/raceme and has a dark maroon centre.
