Englerophytum magaliesmontanum has leaves that are leathery with a shiny dark green appearance; the young leaves are covered in golden hairs. The scented, yellow flowers on the stems are followed by delicious, edible red fruit hence the name 'stem fruit’. It is a butterfly host and has many medicinal and traditional uses.
In Nature, Englerophytum magaliesmontanum is found on rocky outcrops and requires a very well-drained soil. Fairly slow-growing, but a nice addition to a rockery.
