Gladiolus permeabilis

by Johan Wentzel

Gladiolus permeabilis
Plant Type
Bulb
Gladiolus permeabilis is quite a dainty little Gladiolus that blends well with grasses. Keep dry in winter.
Plant Description

Gladiolus permeabilis  is a summer growing Gladiolus. The inflorescence is  a 4-8-flowered spike (sometimes up to 15) and the flowers whitish to cream, sometimes grey or mauve. The keels can be dark purple or maroon. From the side, the flowers show a typical "window" between the upper and lateral tepals. The flowers are intensely and sweetly scented and quite frilly. The plant is quite small, reaching a height of 30-60cm. Leaves are seldom more than 6.

Plant Gladiolus permeabilis amongst smaller grasses for the best effect.
