Helichrysum argyrophyllum is a low growing, mat forming, perennial herb that grows up to 0.1m tall. It has a dense layer of small, grey leaves. Flowers are borne between February and April and are bright yellow, daisy-like with bright yellow ray florets and even darker yellow disk florets. Helichrysum argyrophyllum's flowers last very long on the plant sometimes up to a month and also make for good cut flowers and in dry flower ornaments.
Helichrysum argyrophyllum is ideal for a sunny position in a rockery or when cascaded down retaining walls or terrace walls or over large rocks. It also makes for a lovely groundcover with the stark contrast of the grey leaves and yellow flowers. It can be used in a mixed border, in containers or pots or as a filler in a garden.
