Ipomea bathycolpos is a trailing perennial herb with a lon g thin woody taproot. Stems are generally long, thin, trailing and has a rough texture. The leaves are fleshy and heart shaped with a rough surface.There is a distinct, pale midrib and some slight folding in along it. Flowers appear in summer and are bell/trumpet shaped, with a pink corolla  or white with a dark pink centre.

Ipomea bathycolpos is commonly found in the grassland region where it sprawls amongst the grasses.
