Kiggelaria africana is a fast growing tree with light green leaves. Small, yellow flowers are followed by grey-green star-shaped capsules that open to display shiny, black seeds covered with a bright orange-red coating. Sexes are on separate trees.
Plant Kiggelaria africana in sun or semi-shade. It is the host plant to the Garden Acrea butterfly and the seeds a great favourite amongst birds.
