Osteospermum attenuatum is a low growing, mat forming perennial herb that reaches heights up to 400mm and does well in loamy and sandy soils. The leaves are about 55x10mm with toothed margins and tapers to a stalk-like base. The flowers are solitary, yellow about 25mm large and the ray florets can be purplish red beneath, with stalks about 40mm long and they are borne in December.
