Phylica paniculata is an evergreen, multi-branched, leafy shrub. The leaves are a dull, dark green above and felted with small white hairs below and rolled under margins. The flowers borne between Summer and Autumn are tiny, whitish-creamy or greenish in colour with outer parts with white woolly hairs. The flowers are borne in terminal clusters or sprays.

Phylica paniculata is well-suited to the smaller garden. Birds love the cylindrical fruits.
