Plectranthus ambiguous is a medium to large perennial shrub that reaches heights between 0.4-1.2m tall. It grows in shaded positions and has softly hairy stems. The leaves are thinly hairy with toothed margins and short stalks, the leaves are about 25-120x20-100mm large. The inflorescence of about 40-160mm long carry multiple purple flowers of about 30mm long that are tube shaped, they are borne during autumn between March and April.
Plectranthus ambiguous is ideal for mass planting and makes a beautiful, showy groundcover in shaded areas. Flowering period is quite long.
