The flowers are a bright purplish pink and up to 40mm in diameter. It is often grown as a pot plant with the emphasis on the caudex.

Pterodiscus speciosus is a perennial suffrotex with an underground tuberous caudex rather than a swollen above-ground stem with annual herbaceous stems raying out every which way from the hard, conical caudex. The flowers are a bright purplish pink and up to 40mm in diameter.

Grow Pterodiscus speciosus in full sun in a very well-drained, sandy soil.
