Salvia africana-lutea produces clusters of unusual brown, funnel shaped flowers that are born in spring. When the flowers fall off a decorative purplish calyx remains. It is an attractive easy plant to grow. Water well in winter.

Salvia africana-lutea  is a tough plant that tolerates very dry conditions and should not be overwatered to encourage profuse flowering. It can withstand mild frost.
