Shrub
Plant Description

Sclerochiton harveyanus is a magnificent forest plant that usually forms a roundish shrub up to 3m tall. It has glossy deep green, soft leaves. The leaves are quite small.

Sclerochiton harveyanus bears masses of attractive, solitary blue-mauve to purple, 5-lipped flowers. Occasionally, the flowers will be white. It flowers from December to March.

It is the ideal shrub for a shady spot where winters are not too severe. The flowers always attract attention.

This shrub tolerates very shady conditions so will fill a space under trees where most other plants cannot survive. It sends out runners that often root when they touch the ground, making it a useful plant to cover a large area.

Plant in a compost rich soil and water moderately.

You may find stock of this plant at Random Harvest.
