Senna italica is a small and floriferous little shrub that does well in full sun. Sometimes it will have trailing stems. The bright yellow flowers gradually turn brown with age and is followed by attractive flat pods. The flat seeds have been used as a coffee substitute.

Senna italica is ideal for the smaller garden and a good addition to a grassland garden as well.
