Thunbergia neglecta usually occurs in in Grasslands or Savannah. It sprouts annually from a woody rootstock.

In a garden Thunbergia neglecta can either be left to spread amongst the grasses or it can be trained as creeper. The large yellow flowers are very conspicuous.
