About the Owners
The owners are Dr. Johan Wentzel, and his wife Annette. Both have been dedicated on a full time basis to the nursery since its inception
Even as a student in geology and physics in the early seventies, Johan was interested in our indigenous plants and how to propagate them.
This life long passion was converted into a nursery in 2004. Wildflower Wholesale Nursery was situated next to the Hartbeespoort Dam and specialized in plants from the Grassland Biome of South Africa.
Plants were also selected for their importance from a biodiversity aspect. (Not all plants occurring in the Grasslands are suitable for propagation – e.g. some grow extremely slowly and others are very site specific). Most of the plants were grown from seed collected in the wild.
Unfortunately the nursery closed down in 2022 but johan is still aailable to give advice and guidance.
