Anisodontea julii is a slim, upright, evergreen shrub that can reach a height of up to 3m tall. It has large maple like leaves and bears a magnificent display of large pink flowers throughout summer, they are the shape of open cups with dark pink stripes in the inside. It is tolerant of moderate frosts and prefers a moderate watering during summer seasons. It makes for a spectacular showy feature in the garden attracting birds, butterflies and other insects. Anisodontea julii is a sparse shrub that can grow up to 2m tall and 1m wide but in nature can reach up to a height of 4m tall. It has velvety, soft leaves and beautiful pink-mauve flowers with red striped are carried from February to March.
The beautiful flowers attracts butterflies, other pollinating insects and birds to the garden. It grows fairly fast and is frost and wind resistant with a moderate water requirement. It is ideal for mass planting as an informal shrub border or as a temporary filler until slower growing shrubs have reached their full size. It is ideal for creating an attractive focal point at a sunny entrance area and is ideal for a container or pot. It does well in a small house garden and can easily be replaced if change is wanted. It prefers full sun but also does well in semi-shaded areas in the garden.
