Aster perfoliatus is a perennial herb that can reach a height up to 600m. It is single or multi stemmed that is hairless. The leaves are mostly carried on the lower half of the plant and are leathery, grey-green in colour. The flowers borne between October and December are about 40mm in diameter with blue, mauve or white ray florets and bright yellow disc florets.
Aster perfoliatus is ideal for mixed borders or containers and attracts insects and butterflies to the garden.
