Plant Description

Bauhinia petersiana has magnificent, frilly, large, fragrant white flowers in late summer and requires full sun to flower best. Lightly prune plants to encourage flowering.

Bauhinia petersiana grows well in a sheltered position in colder areas. Historically the seeds were used as a coffee substitute, hence the Afrikaans common name.

The frilly leaves and large flowers make this small tree very attractive.
