Chaetacanthus costatus, the fairy stars, has a well-developed rootstock from which which numerous shoots  sprouts annually. Leaves are stalkless and the plant is very compact. When in flower, it is really a pretty sight.

Plant Chaetacanthus costatus amongst small grasses where it normally occurs in nature. It prefers a sunny spot, good drainage and not too much water.
