by Johan Wentzel

Chlorophytum bowkeri
Common Name
Giant chlorophytum
Plant Type
Perennial

Plant Description

Chlorophytum bowkeri  is a robust perennial herb, up to 1 m, often forming large clumps.. Leaves in a large basal tuft, linear. inflorescence on a long fleshy peduncle, usually unbranched, rarely with short branches at the base. The plant produces long, thin stems which carry white flowers that are quite impressive with their prominent yellow anthers.

Chlorophytum bowkeri is a beautiful plant for large, shady areas and semi-wild forest gardens. Plants look well in a shady spot when planted en masse as a groundcover. Add enough compost to ensure a beautiful display.

Chlorophytum bowkeri is an easy grower and requires very little maintenance. If it does get frosted, it will bounce back in spring.
