When you stand next to Gladiolus papilio, your feet are probably wet. It prefers a damp spot but it is not essential. The flower is very unusual.
Plant Description

Gladiolus papilio is a true wetland specie and it only occurs in wetlands and seeps but is not that demanding in cultivation. It requires full sun and moderate amounts of water. The flower has a very unusual shape and the colour is variable.

Plant it in a wet spot amongst sedges or grasses for the best effect.

Gladiolus papilio is extremely hardy.
