Kniphofia ensifolia is a robust, very hardy, evergreen, perennial with basal, strap-like leaves. The tubular flowers are red and then open to a greenish-white. It does well in moist areas but must be planted in full sun.

Kniphofia ensifolia is a  very hardy, evergreen, herbaceous perennial with basal, strap-like leaves. The spikes of tubular flowers are red and then open to a greenish-white that top the flowering stem.

Kniphofia ensifolia does well in moist areas but must be planted in full sun. Attracts insects, sunbirds and other birds to the garden. It is one of only three species of Kniphofia that grows in Gauteng
