Rabdosiella calycina is a coarse perennial herb or soft shrub that can grow up to 1.5m tall. It has a woody rootstock with annual hairy stems.
The closely packed leaves are about 40-100x20-45mmin size, leathery, rough and hairless above while it can be either heirless or velvety below and toothed margins with a very short stalk. The flowers are terminal, dense and leafy. The branched inflorescence, 100-300mm, bears white to mauve tiny flowers, 8-11mm. borne between December and June. It is normally observed in the grasslands near rocky outcrops.
.Rabdosiella calycina is an attractive, hardy garden plant but has an unpleasant scent. It is ideal for a mixed border or shrubbery and will look lovely in a rockery.
