Setaria megaphylla has beautiful, pleated leaves and it does very well in shade. Attracts myriads of seed eating birds to the garden. It can become quite tall if planted in the sun. As with most grasses Setaria megaphylla should be cut back once a year and if possible burnt, once every 5 years.
There is also a variant that does not grow taller than 60 cm.
