Thorncroftia succulenta is a succulent-like shrub that can grow up to 1m tall. It has a woody rootstock and many fleshy stems covered with velvety hairs. When mature the hairs disappear and the stems become grey-brown and somewhat woody. The leaves are a geyish-green colour, succulent and has rounded teeth on the margins, they are covered with hairs and are borne on short stalks. Thorncroftia succulenta bears mauve, tube shaped flowers in Autumn between March and May.
