Vahlia capensis is a pretty little multi-stemmed shrublet, up to 30cm in height, that can handle very harsh conditions and  still flower. Leaves are linear, along the stems and the yellow  flowers are borne in axillary pairs. The flowering season is very long and the fine leaves contrast well with other grassland species.

In nature,Vahlia capensis often occurs near moist places.
